Press release. The Moldovan intellectual elite founded the extra-territorial Organization of LDPM "Independence and European Integration”

The founding conference of the Extra-territorial Organization of the Liberal Democratic Party of Moldova "Independence and European Integration" took place on June 19th, 2010, in Chisinau.

The meeting was attended by 250 delegates, among which members of the First Parliament of the Republic of Moldova, senior government officials, and officials from the fields of public administration, health, justice, education and science, culture and sport, who joined the Democratic Liberal Party of Moldova.

The conference was attended by the President of LDPM, Vlad Filat, vice-presidents: Iurie Ţap, Liliana Palihovici, Mihai Şleahtiţchi, Ion Balan, liberal democratic deputies.

The meeting began with a moment of silence in memory of Dniester war victims.

Pantelei Sandulachi, coordinator of the initiative group, president of "Parliament 90” Association, presented the need for founding the organization, its goals and objectives. Sandulachi said that Moldova is at historical crossroads. In order to end the interminable electoral campaigns, we have to bring to government forces which are strong and act coherently. "LDPM is such a force, which assumed full responsibility for the act of governance. That is why we decided to join our forces and together to contribute to the country's European integration and increasing citizens' welfare", Sandulachi said.

Among the speakers were Nicolae Juravschi, Chairman of National Olympic Committee,  Arcadie Suceveanu, Vice-president of the Writers Union, Svetlana Mîsliţki, Vice-president of the Association of Ukrainians in Moldova, ex-deputy, Ştefan Maimescu, former deputy, representative of Moldovan Diaspora in Italy, academician Valeriu Canţer, president of the National Council for Accreditation and Attestation, academician Ion Bostan, rector of the Technical University of Moldova and others who welcomed the foundation of this organization of LDPM. They emphasized that the Extra-territorial Organization of LDPM "Independence and European Integration" is invited to support the territorial structures of the party, to be present in every village, in every house, to reach the nationals of other ethnic groups, as well as Moldovan communities abroad.

The organization responsibility is to strengthen civil society, to join creative forces and energies in order to achieve the European integration aspiration of our country, the speakers mentioned.

Vlad Filat, President of LDPM, Prime Minister of Moldova, welcomed the conference participants.

Filat appreciated the initiative to establish the extra-territorial organization of LDPM "Independence and European Integration." "It is a great honor to see remarkable personalities who wrote the history of Moldova and who intend to be fully involved, through concrete actions in shaping our country's European destiny”. The liberal democratic leader thanked the members of the newly founded organization for their support, stating that "from now on there will be even more of us, we will work for this country that I love very much."

The conference elected the organization governing bodies. Gheorghe Amihalachioae, President of the Bar Association, was chosen unanimously as the President of the extra-territorial organization of LDPM "Independence and European Integration” and Pantelei Sandulachi as senior vice president. They are both deputies in the Parliament and voters of the Declaration of Independence of the Republic of Moldova.

At the end of the conference, delegates adopted a Declaration which states that the extra-territorial organization "Independence and European Integration" along with regional party structures will get involved immediately in political activities in all localities of Moldova. "We have enough resources to cover the entire country and a broad social spectrum: teachers, doctors, people involved in culture, science and sports, business people, farmers, pensioners and other categories. We will put a special emphasis on informing accurately the representatives of national minorities, who should not be involved with the extreme left revanchist forces, but instead building a democratic and prosperous country - which is one of the major objectives of LDPM ", the statement says.

Extra-territorial organization "Independence and European Integration" believes that “only LDPM victory at future parliamentary and presidential elections will ensure the establishment of long and fruitful democratic governance".
