The President of the European People's Party (EPP), Wilfried Martens, congratulated the Prime Minister of Moldova and President of the Liberal Democratic Party of Moldova (LDPM), Vlad Filat, for the very good results obtained by the party at the local elections.
"After a victory at the last parliamentary elections in November 2010, following the Sunday results, the Alliance for European Integration (AEI) has become the main political force at the local level. With the best results from the election of mayors across the country (one third of all mayors), the Liberal Democratic Party of Moldova, a member with observer status of the EPP, has consolidated its position as driver of the AEI. I would like to emphasize the very constructive and responsible role played by the party of the Prime Minister before the first round and between the two rounds, by supporting the acting mayor of Chisinau, enabling his reelection", the message of Wilfried Martens says.
The cited document states that these results demonstrate once again that the citizens of Moldova have chosen the path of European integration and trust the government of Prime Minister Vlad Filat. "I look forward to personally congratulate the Prime Minister Vlad Filat, on June 23rd, at the EPP Summit in Brussels", EPP President said.
Note: At European level, EPP is the largest and most influential political party, center-right, which now includes 75 member parties from 39 countries, the Presidents of the European Commission, Council and Parliament, 17 heads of state and government of the EU and 6 non-EU, 13 members of the European Commission and the largest group from the European Parliament.
