Between February 21st to 26th, in Zagreb, Croatia, the Youth Organization of LDPM attended the Winter University of the European Democratic Students (EDS), the official organization of the European People's Party. The EDS members discussed the process of democratization in the Balkans. Also, at the end of the program the EDS Council took place, where the LDYM was present as an observer member.

At the EDS Council, the LDYM proposed for discussion and approval a motion about the importance that the liberalization of visa regime between Moldova and EU would bear for youth. The topic has gained the EDS support and by its approval, it urges the European Union to recognize the end of 2012 as a tangible and realistic deadline for the liberalization of visa regime.

Also, at the initiative of LDYM, the EDS condemned the incident which lead to the death of Vadim Pisari, and adopted a declaration of support for the demilitarization and monitoring of the conflict zone.

The LDYM was represented at the Council meeting by Andrei Spanu, Vice-President of the LDYM. He said that approval of these two documents shows the support of the EDS colleagues for our country.

"I think we managed to make known the achieved results and convince the members of EDS that Moldovan youth deserves to learn, share experiences and participate in the EU processes".

EDS was founded in 1961. It includes 46 organizations in 33 countries with 1.6 million members. The LDYM is an observer member of EDS since 2011.
